Public methodology
How sources become recommendations
Recommendations use structured game metadata, gameplay features, player feedback signals, and editorial review. AI helps with analysis, but it does not replace source review or editorial approval.
Data flow
Raw evidence becomes a record we can check.
Official store, developer, and publisher records establish identity, platform, genre, mechanics, and content flags. Community sources become anonymous, aggregate player signals. We do not publish usernames, IDs, or comment text. A record can appear in the discovery index while editorial sign-off is pending. "Reviewed," "Best," and "Editor's pick" labels are reserved for records that pass the complete publication gate.
Adult-only gate
18+ describes the evidence, not a legal age certificate.
The production dataset requires an audited adult-content signal such as sexual content, nudity, adult content, 18+, NSFW, hentai, or pornographic wording in a reviewed source claim. The signal must also be central to the game's adult identity; an incidental tag on an otherwise general mature game is kept in the isolated audit dataset and does not generate a public route. The `maturity_rating` field describes evidence status and does not claim a jurisdictional age certificate.
Images remain subject to a separate content-safety and permission gate. Editorial/test assets are not treated as commercial permission, and unverified media is excluded from production assets.
Similar games
Similarity comes with a reason.
Each comparison combines story structure, choice systems, mechanics, tone and theme, and player experience. Editor-documented relations retain their relationship reason, similarity type, and evidence IDs. When fewer than five internal relations are available, the page adds clearly deterministic matches from shared structured metadata; these matches do not claim source evidence IDs. Only comparisons with evidence on both the source and target games are indexable; metadata-limited matches remain noindex while they are useful for on-site discovery.
Decision pages
Every shortlist answers a player question.
Entity pages expose an at-a-glance answer, strengths, drawbacks, player fit, avoid-if conditions, and direct questions such as "Is this game worth playing?" Decision pages add comparison matrices and link back to the entity and comparison pages. Unknown fields remain "Not recorded" instead of being filled with estimates.
Brand separation
Mature data stays in this project.
This database shares static rendering capabilities with the GameAtlas engine, but not content records, media assets, brand settings, keywords, entity IDs, or sitemaps. The public sitemap contains only this project's routes.
Last source audit: 2026-08-12, current strict 18+ records: 60; 260 evidence claims across 167 source records.
